Potential Botox Side Effect: Droopy Eyes after Botulinum Toxin Injections

Botox is still the preferred treatment for wrinkles. Its reputation is based is based on thousands of Botox injections administered daily across the world. It has become synonymous with youthful looks and clean taunt skin.

However, like any other medical procedure, there is always a chance that something might go wrong in the administration of the toxin. Although, the chances are rare, but occasionally, there are patients that suffer from one of the unfortunate mishaps. One of the most visible of these mishaps is the droopy eyebrows that are very visible and alter the shape of the face drastically.

To understand why droopy eyebrows happen, it is important that to understand the structure of the muscles that move the eyebrow region. This structure is very unique and comprises of two sets of muscles, known as frontalis and obicularis oculi. They muscles work as counter to each other with one set moving up and anther moving down. These muscles are responsible for smooth movements of the eyebrows and are important for the overall architecture of the skull musculature.

One of the reasons of the droopy eyebrows is the incorrect application of Botox. It often happens that the person administrating Botox often make two major mistakes. They misjudge the dosage or they misjudge the location of the injection. Hence the results are often variable with the number of people complaining of misshapen eye brows.

One of main reasons why such mishaps occur is the lack of expertise of the person administrating the procedure. It is important to understand that the area around the eyes is very susceptible to this problem. The layered muscles of the area make it difficult to judge the correct depth and angle of approach.
Another reason that often causes this dip in the eyebrows is the incorrect dosage of the drug. It is important to realize that every muscle group require a different dosage of the toxin. If incorrect dosage is applied it will either have no impact on the muscles or will result in freezing of the muscle group. Hence it is essential that the correct dosage should be administered to the muscles in the eyebrow area.

To avoid disasters such as these, it is important for you to do a thorough research on the doctor and the clinic that will carry out the procedure. If the doctor or the clinics have a history of botching the procedure, do not go there despite the discounts they offer. It would be a very cruel waste of your money.
